Biography
Miriam Dixon is the Associate Director of Procurement at Wayne State University. She is responsible for the oversight of Procurement, which include the purchase of scientific & medical equipment and supplies, office equipment, contracted services and other operational supplies to support the University in its educational and research mission. She oversees the buying function, and provides direct supervision of the buying team made up of three Buyer II and two Buyer I individuals.
Dixon joins WSU from DLZ Corporation, where she was Contract Manager on a Program Management project. In that role, she was primarily responsible for leading the development of contracts and general requirements, contracting strategies, contract and procurement standards, and the subcontractor performance system. She was also responsible for the procurement of contractors, administration of contracts, and was involved in implementation and management work processes to verify compliance with contract requirements.
Prior to joining DLZ, Dixon served as the General Manager of the Contracts and Grants Division for the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD), where she managed the procedures, operations, and activities for construction, professional services and design/build contracts. She led a team that processed more than $360 Million annually in contract services, for the 127 communities in southeastern Michigan previously serviced by DWSD. She developed and implemented procurement policies, procedures, and processes.
