MMSDC Corporation of the Year

MMSDC Corporation of the Year - Educational and Governmental Entities 2011

The Purchasing Department at Wayne State is pleased to announce that the University has been awarded the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC) Corporation of the Year - Educational and Government Entities 2011 Award.  This is the ninth time the University has been so recognized since 1989.  This results from employing a continuous improvement process  to increase both the level of expenditures and the number of qualified Minority owned and operated enterprises with which the University does business.  Through a wide variety of activities, the University has been successful in this effort.

The University is a recognized leader in the manner and level of effort extended to enhance and support Minority owned and operated enterprises.  The University:

  • Hosts an annual Minority Conference on Purchasing  (23rd Annual will be held on November 1, 2011)

  • Participates annually in the Michigan Minority Procurement Conference  (May)
  • Works with the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council  (MMSDC)

We have participatation with the MMSDC in the following areas:

  • Board of Directors
  • Education Sector Chair
  • Project ONE
  • Annual Award Dinner
  • Michigan Minority Procurement Conference and Trade Fair

While the above information is by no means all inclusive, it provides a substantial overview of the attention given to this important effort, which the University takes very seriously.

Congratulations to all the Corporations, Institutions, and Minority Businesses that were nominated in 2011, and a special congratulations to those that were also award recipients.
