Perhaps you've heard, but the Purchasing Department has been renamed Procurement & Strategic Sourcing (PASS for short). The new name is intended to emphasize a more significant role the department will play in working to obtain the best value on the goods and services used by the University Community.

As a first step in reassessing our department, we have rewritten our mission statement, as shown below:

Our mission is to enable faculty, researchers and the wider University community to quickly and efficiently procure goods and services at the best value, through a network of strategic sources, easy to use procurement tools, and effective customer service.

To accomplish this mission, PASS will initially be reviewing those commodities that are used across the University, such as office supplies, moving services, printing, copy machine equipment, business cards, promotional goods, etc. Many of those projects are already underway in some capacity. Further down the road, we will be working with individual departments to better understand their procurement needs, and determine how we can put our Commodity Specialists to work helping meet those needs.

There you will find a menu of information useful in identifying sources for supply or other services. Pay particular attention to the Super Savings link, which provides a list of Strategically Sourced agreements available to you. To access this page requires your Academica name and password.  The list of agreements on this page will continue to grow through 2012 and into 2013.
